Fort Bend Harris Retired Educators was established in 2001. It is an affiliate of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA).

Fort Bend-Harris Retired Educators is actively involved in the community. Participating in the TRTA Children’s Book Project, the unit selects an FBISD elementary school to receive new books purchased during the year through donations and grants.
Members also engage in various volunteer services in Fort Bend County. Projects include: Children’s Book Project, Holiday Cheer Family Food Drive, Shared Dreams, Foundation Raffle, Cards for Stillwell residents in Waco, East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry Food Pantry.

Join us Friday, April 10th for a trip to the George HW Bush Presidential Library & Museum in College Station. We’ll learn about the life, times, and contributions of the 41st President while viewing the museum’s exhibits which include replicas of President Bush’s Oval Office, White House Press Room, and Camp David Office. The grounds include the Bush family gravesite and the Barbara Bush Rose Garden. We’ll also make a stop at Martha’s Bloomers in Navasota; Southern Living Magazine named it the #5 shopping destination in the south Café M. Bloomers as one of the top 10 tearooms in Texas.

Please help the East Fort Bend Human Needs and Food Bank by eating anytime on Tuesday, April 14 at Los Tios in Sugar Land. Please send the flyer (found on page 11 of the newsletter) or spread the word to family and friends to help with our cause. It is helpful if you bring the flyer or you can mention Fort Bend Harris Retired Educators to the server to get 20% of the check back to help the food bank. Great Tex-Mex food and cost saving lunch specials.

Our Mission
Fort Bend Harris Retired Educators' mission is to promote the professional, economic, intellectual, social, and healthy well-being of retired school personnel. It stays in touch with its members through telephone calls, e-mails, newsletters, and personal invitations to all its activities. Fort Bend Harris provides information about retirement, TRTA state projects, and new progressive programs and activities for its members. Programs at monthly meetings during the year include the following: reports and information on TRTA's legislative actions and planning for retirees, TRS-Care Insurance, TRTA benefits, health, retirement education, luncheons, special entertainment, and fellowship.
